Natural Promotion of Websites: SEO

Natural Promotion of Websites: SEO

This week in Digital Marketing 101, we will explore the marketing concept of SEO. Search Engine Optimization is the process of gaining traffic through “organic” search results. These organic methods involve creating a page that is complete in the eyes of search engines, such as Google, Bing or Yahoo.

How Search Engines work

Search engines scan every page on the web and use complex algorithms to evaluate the value of a page. With a complete dissection of the page, search engines are able to understand the content of the page and the likelihood the page would be useful to a searcher. A well-built website will contain all of the checkboxes search engines desire.

The SEO Marketer’s Role

SEO employees make sure those checkboxes are checked. They will go through an extensive list of responsibilities to make sure every page of a website is up to the algorithms standards. This take time, diligence, and a detailed eye to make sure the website is 100% up to par.

How Websites Appear in Searches

When a search types words into a search bar, we call those keywords.

These keywords engage with the algorithms to produce a series of results that best meet your intended search. Websites therefore strive to use SEO tools to evaluate the best way to get their site to appear for certain keyword and combinations of keywords. Properly built SEO websites will be able to appear in a variety of searches
