Social Media Coordinator Haley Bosse Has a Maximalist Sensibility And Ability to Connect with People

Welcome Haley Bosse, TDF’s New Social Media Coordinator!

Haley Bosse used to play with Barbie dolls when she was a kid. She would switch their clothes and dream up beautiful outfits for them to wear.

Jump ahead years later — Haley is attending the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles. She’s studying visual communication in a town where at any given time you might spy Leonardo DiCaprio, Machine Gun Kelly and Mick Jagger lounging together. But she’s also working on a bachelor’s in business management, learning aspects of design and marketing that will eventually bring her to The Deciding Factor.

Incorporate Art Into Everything

Haley, as it turns out, is best friends with Caroline Crew, Digital Marketing Specialist for The Deciding Factor. They’ve known each other nine years, since attending The Summit Country Day School together.

At The Summit Haley took her fascination with design to the next level as the Founder and President of the Fashion Club.

“I really love grandeur and maximalism,” she says, referring to the style of extremity, loud prints and bright colors that can be seen at the Met Gala every year. “I believe you should incorporate art into everything you do. I wanted to spread that message to other people.”

She’s taken a very different path than her parents — Haley’s dad is a corporate lawyer, and her mom owns a wellness consulting business — but they supported her passion and schooling in L.A. At FIDM she not only explored fashion elements and principles but also developed skills to immerse consumers with experiential design.

Along with window displays, personal styling, strategic marketing, PR, Adobe Creative Suite and more, Haley honed her skills in social media trends and best practices.

“Social media is new and changing. At FIDM I really learned how to bring the two halves of my brain — artistic and structural — together to engage consumers,” says Haley.

Connecting Brands and People

Growing up in the 21st century demands a comfort with technology and an eye for what can get clicks and likes. From working as a sales associate at the Macaron Bar and Anthropologie to coordinating social media for Ivivva and The Good Karma, Haley has always ensured brand love and connections with people.

Connections brought her to TDF when Caroline suggested that Haley should apply.

“We love to keep it in the family at TDF,” says Karen Meyers Holzer, President of The Deciding Factor. “We’re thrilled that Haley found her way to us. She brings a savvy ability to navigate today’s social media landscape and an in-depth understanding of brands, market goals and aesthetics.”

Do Everything with Love

Fashion isn’t Haley’s only obsession — she also reads books. Lots and lots of books. She just finished Olivia Laing’s Funny Weather, a book of essays on why art matters, and Elif Batuman’s The Idiot, a semi-autobiographical novel by the Turkish-American author.

According to Haley, “At any given time I could be reading two or three books.”

She also plays tennis and pickleball with Caroline and friends. Haley was actually number three in tennis in the Ohio Midwest Region when she played competitively in high school. Her enthusiasm for tennis started when she took lessons with her whole family.

“My family has a philosophy — do everything with love,” says Haley. “Throughout my life they’ve taught me to approach fashion and reading and tennis and now social media marketing with that same emotion.”
